ROBERT Minty is the Borough of Queenscliffe\u2019s newest councillor.<\/p>\n

The Victorian Electroal Commission conducted a countback of the 2020 council election following last month\u2019s resignation of Fleur Hewitt<\/a>, and announced results this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Mr Minty’s tenure will begin in time for the Borough’s council meeting on Wednesday (June 28), which will include a vote on its 2023\/24 budget<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is a former president of the Point Lonsdale Civic Association<\/a> and has also been involved in local organisations including Probus and the RSL since building a home in Point Lonsdale more than 30 years ago.<\/p>\n

Mr Minty was previously elected to the council in 2019<\/a> by countback following the resignation of Tony Francis.<\/p>\n

He initially failed to win re-election in the 2020 count<\/a>, finishing seventh in first-preference voting.<\/p>\n

Mr Minty highlighted his business credentials<\/a> as his top attributes in a statement provided to the VEC ahead of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in a strong and independent Borough and a Council focused on its residents and local businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will ensure The Borough of Queenscliffe, a very special place to live will flourish long into the future.<\/p>\n
