{"id":72389,"date":"2023-07-18T04:00:37","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=72389"},"modified":"2023-07-13T16:24:39","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T06:24:39","slug":"arts-prize-to-light-up-queenscliff-pier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/arts-prize-to-light-up-queenscliff-pier\/","title":{"rendered":"Arts prize to light up Queenscliff Pier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ENTRIES are now open for the third edition of one of Australia\u2019s biggest outdoor art exhibitions, the Queenscliff Arts Prize.<\/p>\n<p>The art extravaganza will once again light up the Queenscliff Pier from November this year to April 2024, giving artists from across the country the opportunity to showcase their most prized pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Artists may enter more than ten categories including portrait, mixed media, landscapes, digital art, print art and photography divisions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_72398\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72398\" style=\"width: 603px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-72398 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1.jpg?_t=1689229411\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1.jpg 8192w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3391-1-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72398\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tracie Sullivan was the winner of the portrait prize award in 2022.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Exhibition curator Chris MacLeod said the hope was to attract north of 200 submissions in 2023\/24.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m optimistic it\u2019ll get to about 200 entries this time round, especially considering we had about 250 pieces including the student category last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe categories are vast and are open to all artists, both emerging and well established.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to seeing the entries come in on a daily and weekly basis until they close in September.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_72394\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72394\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-72394 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/0G2A3386-e1689135299611-520x320.jpg?_t=1689135302\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris MacLeod started up the Queenscliff Arts Prize three years ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr MacLeod said the exhibition has grown rapidly since its <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/inaugural-queenscliff-art-prize-gets-pier-approval\/\">debut in 2021<\/a> with more artists recognising the quality of exhibiting their works at such a breathtaking location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had correspondence with many artists who are returning for this year\u2019s exhibition who just can\u2019t wait to enter new work!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only are many keen to participate again, but they have also recommended it to their artistic friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to think with the numbers of people coming from Melbourne and beyond to see the exhibition, it\u2019s a benefit to the local traders too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Queenscliff Arts Prize will compliment two other forthcoming exhibitions Mr MacLeod has planned in Busselton in Western Australia and in Henley in South Australia in the latter part of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>All entries will be by digital submission, with artworks then put on show in November when the exhibition officially opens.<\/p>\n<p>To apply for the prize or to find out more information, head to<a href=\"http:\/\/queenscliffartprize.com.au\"> queenscliffartprize.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entries close in early September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ENTRIES are now open for the third edition of one of Australia\u2019s biggest outdoor art exhibitions, the Queenscliff Arts Prize.
