{"id":73714,"date":"2023-08-04T00:40:09","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T14:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=73714"},"modified":"2023-08-03T20:14:39","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T10:14:39","slug":"demons-supporters-keen-to-invest-in-the-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/demons-supporters-keen-to-invest-in-the-future\/","title":{"rendered":"Demons supporters keen to invest in the future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PORTARLINGTON Football &amp; Netball Club representatives and special guests gathered last week at the Portarlington Grand Hotel to show their support for the local club&#8217;s senior program.<\/p>\n<p>Portarlington FNC vice president Darren Hellmann said it was the second time the club had hosted its Top 25 function, raising funds for player recruitment and retention at the senior level for season 2024.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 481px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/08\/0G2A4883_41755.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"321\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Portarlington FNC&#8217;s Top 25 event was first held last year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event, held last Friday, was headlined by a Q&amp;A discussion between former AFL player and executive Neil Balme and former Portarlington FNC junior Tom King.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a great day, and it was great to listen to Neil speak,&#8221; Mr Hellmann said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were lucky enough to have former Geelong Cats CEO and current Carlton Blues CEO Brian Cook at the event last year, so following up with Neil this time around was a real treat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Neil touched on football club culture and how valuable it can be at the local level.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also had club president Steve Cogger provide stakeholders with an update of where the club is at currently and what&#8217;s in store down the track.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Portarlington Demons enter its historic 150th year in 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PORTARLINGTON Football &amp; Netball Club representatives and special guests gathered last week at the Portarlington Grand Hotel to show their support for the local club&#8217;s senior program.
