A POPULAR Bellarine destination for recreational boating, yachting, fishing and offshore diving is set for car parking upgrades to provide better access for local aquatic users.<\/p>\n
The Clifton Springs Boat Harbour Upgrade will increase the number of formal car parks and improve traffic flow at the site by adding 30 new car-trailer unit spaces and an asphalt carpark seal.<\/p>\n
The upgrade is being funded by the Victorian Government\u2019s Better Boating Fund ($350,000), a previous Boating Safety and Facilities Program grant of $250,000 and a $200,000 contribution from the Commonwealth Government\u2019s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the upgrades will allow more locals and visitors to get out on the water.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a regular at the Clifton Springs Boat Harbour and like my fellow boaties, I\u2019ve watched as the facility has become increasingly popular and struggled to meet demand,\u201d Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe parking upgrade will make a significant difference to the harbour, which has been identified as a growth area, and the city team is pleased to be delivering the works.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has immense recreational, economic and environmental value to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Federal member for Corangamite Libby Coker said the federal government was proud to be supporting local councils in their delivery of community infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe LRCI program is all about making sure our communities have the safe, reliable, and functional infrastructure they need.<\/p>\n
