A DOZEN community groups will benefit from the 2023-24 round of community grants from the Borough of Queenscliffe.<\/p>\n
The borough awarded 12 community recipient organisations with funding boosts ranging from $664 to $2,400 during a special ceremony earlier this month at the Queenscliffe Hub.<\/p>\n
Queenscliffe mayor Isabelle Tolhurst said it was a joy for the borough to be celebrating community events across the municipality.<\/p>\n
“The initiatives fulfill two of the major pillars in our Community Vision.<\/p>\n
“They are, enhancing health and well-being, and encouraging an inclusive and engaged community.<\/p>\n
“This year’s initiatives all work, in unique ways, to bring people together.”<\/p>\n
This year’s recipients were:
\nBoomerang Bags \u2013 $1,129 for servicing machines and materials
\nCombined Probus Club of Queenscliffe \u2013 $1000 for the purchase of wool for beanies\/blankets
\nPoint Lonsdale Board Riders \u2013 $1500 Groms off the Wall program
\nPoint Lonsdale Basketball Assoc \u2013 $1864 for equipment and training
\nPoint Lonsdale Primary School \u2013 $664 for Nippers in schools
\nPoint Lonsdale Surf Lifesaving Club \u2013 $2000 for their Silver Salties Over 55s Active Participation Program
\nQueenscliff Lonsdale Yacht Club \u2013 $1300 for a Safety ladder\/platform
\nQueenscliffe and District Neighbourhood House INC \u2013 $1800 for their community support and inclusion \u2013 Chatty Caf\u00e9
\nQueenscliffe Indigenous Nursery \u2013 $2000 to purchase a fridge for seeds
\nShedding the Blues \u2013 $999 to support The Bright Side of Life: Optimism Rules
\nSt Aloysius Primary School in conjunction with PLPS and QPS \u2013 $2400 Embracing our Kids
\nTides of Welcome Community Choir \u2013 20th Anniversary Celebration \u2013 $2026<\/p>\n
Cr Tolhurst said the spread of organisations sharing in the grant pool of $18,862 showed the Borough of Queenscliffe was a community of diverse interests and pursuits.<\/p>\n
“On a daily basis the 12 recipients engage local people, foster collaboration, facilitate conversation, and share skills.<\/p>\n
“They are run almost entirely by volunteers who are the engines of these varied organisations.”<\/p>\n
