<\/p>\nA prominent Ocean Grove corner block would be converted into four townhouses under plans submitted to the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
49 Presidents Avenue, at the corner of Madeley Street would be developed into the modern residences in a new permit application.<\/p>\n
Each of the new units would be two storeys, comprising of one four-bedroom residence and three three-bedroom homes<\/p>\n
An existing four-unit complex would be knocked down to make way for the new development.<\/p>\n
Planning reports provided in support of the application said the new modern units would complement the existing character of the area.<\/p>\n
“The site has been assessed and blended into the current state of the surrounding neighbourhood character.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“The new dwellings will be of a tasteful nature and work in with that of the existing suburbs designed dwellings in this low-medium density development.<\/p>\n
“The proposed development is consistent with the neighbourhood character and the other existing unit developments within the Ocean Grove area.”<\/p>\n
Proponents also said the proposed design would be suitable to wider range of potential owners and had close proximity to public transport and public facilities.<\/p>\n
Street setbacks and modest heights also intend to address any concerns around overlooking or visual impact.<\/p>\n
