{"id":76304,"date":"2023-09-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=76304"},"modified":"2023-09-16T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T18:00:00","slug":"robinson-fired-up-for-australian-boardriders-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/robinson-fired-up-for-australian-boardriders-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Robinson fired up for Australian Boardriders Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A JAN JUC local and 2022\/23 Championship Tour surfer will be hoping to lead the way for her home club this year in their bid to qualify for the 2024 Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final.<\/p>\n<p>India Robinson joined 2012 WSL world champion Joel Parkinson and Championship Tour surfer Liam O&#8217;Brien on Wednesday last week at Burleigh Heads to officially announce the Queensland point break as the Grand Final location for the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify, Robinson must lead Jan Juc Boardriders to a top three finish in the Victorian qualifying round at Phillip Island on September 24.<\/p>\n<p>The Boardriders Battle is one of the most highly anticipated events on the Surfing Australia calendar and pits the best boardrider clubs from each state against one another.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson said qualifying for the Grand Final on March 9-10, 2024 would be an amazing opportunity for Jan Juc Boardriders.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_116633\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116633\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-116633 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/2023-03-03-Indiarobinsonshi06805-Copy.jpg-Andrew-Shield-2-600x380.jpg?_t=1694570139\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-116633\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">India Robinson will be hoping to lead the Jan Juc Boardriders team to the Australian Boardriders Battle Grand Final. Photo: ANDREW SHIELD\/SURFING AUSTRALIA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To have a change of venue [from Newcastle] and a different experience for all the athletes will be great.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some people have never had the opportunity to surf an empty right hand point break, it&#8217;s a very exciting opportunity for a lot of us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It [the Australian Boardriders Battle] is a chance to combine all the generations to surf together in the same event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;ve got 12-year-olds surfing against world champions like Joel Parkinson.
