Photo: MARCEL BERENS\/SPORTS MEDIA IMAGES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Werribee Centrals\u2019 captain and best-on-court, Amanda O\u2019Malley, said it had been a long journey to reach the Grand Final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve had time to reflect on last year, we\u2019ve had injuries, we\u2019ve had girls come in halfway through the season, this was our goal since the start of the year and it\u2019s what has inspired the group each week,\u201d O\u2019Malley said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe game plan today was to play in front, we know East Geelong is a defensive team, so we wanted to play the front ball, work it close to the post, then cherish and reward our opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The contest began on an even keel with Werribee edging to a slight 6-7 lead at quarter time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84124\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84124\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-84124 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/09\/IMG_6041-scaled.jpg?_t=1694864535\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-84124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Centurions shooter Jenni Rothery. Photo: VINNIE VAN OORSCHOT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Werribee then made its first move in the second quarter, outscoring the Centurions 10-7 in the stanza to amass a four-goal lead into half-time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Centurions\u2019 staunch defensive efforts, led by league best and fairest winner Amanda O\u2019Malley, provided dividends, as the Eagles were limited to five goals in the third quarter and five goals in the fourth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Werribee led by five goals at three-quarter-time, before running away with the contest in the final minutes to secure a six-goal win and the A Grade premiership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scoring efforts from shooting duo Jenni Rothery (18 goals) and Ellie Tubbs (11 goals) were key in the win, while East Geelong\u2019s Shannon Pietsch (11 goals), Alicia Kelton (10 goals), and Jenelle Baker (two goals) made up the Eagles\u2019 points contributions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84123\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84123\" style=\"width: 678px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-84123 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/09\/IMG_6018-scaled.jpg?_t=1694864535\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"452\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-84123\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">East Geelong captain Stephanie Boyce.
