{"id":76331,"date":"2023-09-18T04:00:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-17T18:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=76331"},"modified":"2023-09-17T18:17:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-17T08:17:56","slug":"cottage-by-the-sea-receives-historical-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/cottage-by-the-sea-receives-historical-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Cottage by the Sea receives historical grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>QUEENSCLIFF charity Cottage by the Sea has been selected as a recipient of the Victorian Government&#8217;s Local History Grants Program.<\/p>\n<p>Cottage by the Sea received a grant of $1,526 for its \u2018archiving Cottage by the Sea historical camp program documents\u2019 project.<\/p>\n<p>The charity aims to contribute to its ongoing legacy by recording its unique and fascinating history, collating the institution&#8217;s historical milestones and documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Local History Grants Program is all about supporting our local historians and community groups,\u201d State Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted Cottage by the Sea has received this grant which will showcase and share the Bellarine and Queenscliff\u2019s rich local history with generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 582px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/TaB-scaled_98794.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"582\" height=\"436\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cottage by the Sea will collate its historical archives as part of its Local History grants. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cottage by the Sea was established in 1890 and has since provided short term care within a holiday environment to children in-need.<\/p>\n<p>The 2022-23 round of local History Grants funding involves 42 community groups being awarded grants.<\/p>\n<p>Other recipients named alongside Cottage by the Sea include Bidwell First Nations Clans Aboriginal Corporation, the Melbourne Athenaeum, and the Ballarat &amp; District Irish Association.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that we preserve our past and celebrate our history \u2013 it helps guide the way forward,\u201d Minister for Government Services Danny Pearson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrants and awards recognise the amazing work that local groups and historians are doing every day and we\u2019re proud to support them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more on Cottage by the Sea\u2019s programs, head to <strong>www.cottagebythesea.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QUEENSCLIFF charity Cottage by the Sea has been selected as a recipient of the Victorian Government&#8217;s Local History Grants Program.
