IMPROVEMENTS to Ocean Grove’s footpath networks are on the way following consultation between the City of Greater Geelong and the local community.<\/p>\n

The Ocean Grove Principal Pedestrian Network will change the landscape of Ocean Grove, with newly constructed pathways slated to span 24.3km in the “old” Ocean Grove and Collendina areas.<\/p>\n

The works will allow Ocean Grove to become more pedestrian friendly and will enable residents to enjoy the social, economic and environmental benefits of active transport.<\/p>\n

The first stage of works will focus on Aldebaran Road, Marlin Drive, Shell Road East, Shell Road West, and areas of Thacker Street.<\/p>\n

Bellarine Ward councillor Elise Wilkinson applauded the collaborative venture.<\/p>\n

“Together we have solidified the pedestrian network plan for these streets in ‘old’ Ocean Grove,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The team have worked hard to ensure the community can access up-to-date information, background materials, and engagement details.<\/p>\n

“We encourage you to visit the website or to pop into the Ocean Grove Library where there will be hard copies for those who prefer those.”<\/p>\n

As the project advances, additional information will be provided to keep residents well-informed about the planned works on their street.<\/p>\n

Construction start dates are still to be confirmed.<\/p>\n
