THE delivery of new public facilities on St Leonards Foreshore will provide locals and travellers alike with more opportunities to enjoy the coastal town.<\/p>\n
The project features a new open-sided shelter with accessible BBQ, accessible picnic seating, two cold water outdoor showers, two open air changerooms, new concrete path and surrounding landscaping.<\/p>\n
The $430,000 works will be fully funded by the federal government and delivered by the City of Greater Geelong and the Hanlon Industries construction team.<\/p>\n
Mayor Trent Sullivan thanked the government for its funding.<\/p>\n
“These facilities will help make the foreshore a more appealing place for locals and visitors to spend time.<\/p>\n
“I’m sure it will draw more people to the area to enjoy the spectacular view across the bay.”<\/p>\n
Federal member for Corangamite, Libby Coker said the project was a huge win for the St Leonards community.<\/p>\n
“Like the rest of the Bellarine community, I look forward to seeing this project get underway later this year, with much-needed further upgrades to come.<\/p>\n
“$430,000 in federal funding for a pavilion, public barbeque and landscaping along the foreshore.<\/p>\n
“Once complete, the project will deliver better community infrastructure for locals and visitors in one of our region’s most beautiful coastal towns.”<\/p>\n
The local community will be kept informed throughout the works of any impacts on public access.<\/p>\n
A space has been left in the proposed project for a public toilet, should the City receive funding to deliver it in the future.<\/p>\n
Construction is slated to kick off in November and expected to be completed by February 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
