GALAXY United FC is taking over GMHBA Stadium later this year, announcing it will play five Women\u2019s National Premier League (WNPL) over the course of a single day at the Geelong venue.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast-based soccer club and Kardinia Park Stadium announced the community event, which will be held on May 19, to mark International Women\u2019s Day<\/p>\n
Galaxy United FC, regional Victoria\u2019s only WNPL club, will host Bulleen Lions in a showcase of the very best football talent that Geelong has to offer, from the under-12s through to Galaxy United\u2019s senior team.<\/p>\n
As the day will be a festival of women\u2019s football, other promotions and events will be run throughout the day that complement the participation and promotion of women in sport.<\/p>\n
The day will culminate with a Women\u2019s Gala Dinner, where a presentation will be made to the Geelong region\u2019s Female Football Administrator of the Year.<\/p>\n
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust chief executive officer Michael Brown said the trust was very excited to be working with Galaxy United FC on the new community event.<\/p>\n

Galaxy United FC president Rob Lehmann heralded last week\u2019s announcement as a huge step forward for women\u2019s football in the Geelong region.<\/p>\n

Games will be played at 9am (under-12 WNPL), 10.10am (under-14 WNPL), 11.30am (under-16 WNPL), 1.15pm (under-19 WNPL), 3.15pm (FFV Geelong Women\u2019s Division 1), and 5.15pm (seniors WNPL).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
