THE Easter Eggstravaganza at Queenscliff this year is expected to deliver around 20,000 chocolate eggs to excited boys and girls.<\/p>\n
In its fifth year, the event at Queenscliff Bowling, Tennis & Croquet Club is again proudly supporting the Good Friday Appeal.<\/p>\n
Club manager Rod Wayth said the Easter Eggstravaganza raised almost $120,000 between 2014 and 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s actually quite remarkable on the day and the goodwill of so many people.<\/p>\n
The Easter Eggstravaganza will include a seafood feast, jumping castle, face painting, market stalls, auctions, raffles, a kid\u2019s craft tent and live music, and Easter egg hunts for the kids, and adults too.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a real genuine family day, and the local kids come and donate their time, some girls do hair braiding and the boys run a handball competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a real community event, not a club event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Wayth said the event was funded by the club, which didn\u2019t recover any costs.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf someone spends $5 on a pie and a drink, they know all $5 of that is going to the Appeal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe spent more than $9,000 on eggs last year, and the total cost of the day, not including labour hours was about $16,000, so we will be looking at spending about $20,000 this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Wayth said the club was proud to absorb the cost as its contribution to the community.<\/p>\n
The Easter Eggstravaganza will offer loads of fun for the whole family at Queenscliff Bowling, Tennis & Croquet Club on March 30 from 11am.<\/p>\n
The kid\u2019s egg hunts, which run between 11.30am to 2.30pm, cost $5 and the adult egg hunt, which runs at 3pm, costs $50 per team of two.<\/p>\n
