	{"id":79553,"date":"2024-01-06T04:00:20","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T17:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=79553"},"modified":"2023-12-20T14:49:17","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T03:49:17","slug":"geelongs-sweetest-new-fine-dining-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/geelongs-sweetest-new-fine-dining-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Geelong&#8217;s sweetest new fine dining experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Geelong&#8217;s fine dining venues Nectar Kitchen and Bar is sure to turn heads with its fresh blend of &#8220;charm and allure&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Nestled in Geelong&#8217;s CBD, Nectar offers an elegant space to connect over delicious Mediterranean cuisine and decadent cocktails and spirits.<\/p>\n<p>The venue, which opened in October, is the latest masterstroke of successful local publican Andrew Steere of Recess Bar and Eats, who previously owned Edge Geelong and Winters Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Steere has assembled an all-star class for his newest venture, including Recess Bar and Eats chef and 40-year kitchen stalwart Mandy Wright, as well as established local venue manager and cocktail connoisseur Finn Sugrue.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123552\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123552\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123552 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/Mini-serve-on-table-with-food-Large.jpeg?_t=1702951270\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123552\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The menu features plenty of seafood and local fine meats.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The venue&#8217;s &#8220;lux and plush&#8221; interior features velvet seats, suave curtains, grey and black marble tables and mood lighting which exudes warmth and elegance.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Steere said Nectar fills a hole in the market in Geelong and provides the perfect opportunity to &#8220;savour the Mediterranean spirit and indulge in moments sure to become cherished memories.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mandy (our chef) and I love Mediterranean food and have a huge appreciation for fine dining and fine cocktails,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We felt there was certainly nothing around of this nature and took the chance to give people an opportunity to try something different in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having been in the industry for 22 years, this was something I was really keen to foster in Geelong, and thus far it&#8217;s been well received.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nectar is a great addition to what my team and I feel we have built elsewhere in Geelong.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123554\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123554\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123554 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/Upright-menu-w-green-drapes.jpg?_t=1702951328\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The restaurant&#8217;s interior matches the charm and allure of the menu.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drawing inspiration from her experiences of Mediterranean culture, head chef Mandy Wright has carefully crafted a menu influenced by the region.<\/p>\n<p>Using local ingredients and an abundance of seafood and local meats, Ms Wright welcomes diners to take a delightful journey through the countries and flavours surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p>From the carpaccio of bresola, to the richness of the Moreton Bay bug linguini, Ms Wright has carefully selected all the flavours to evoke the spirit of the region.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123556\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123556\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123556 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/Lasagne-closeup-Large.jpeg?_t=1702951362\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123556\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The crab lasagne is a fan favourite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mandy has really just taken the bull by the horns here,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one is doing what she&#8217;s doing in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The biggest seller is definitely the crab lasagne, it&#8217;s absolutely amazing!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The brisolla with parmesan whip is delicious and the moretan bay bug linguini is absolute top goodness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s certainly one of those menus which you could easily eat everything!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve had some fussy eaters in before who have just been shocked with the plethora of options. Everyone is happy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mandy&#8217;s 40 years in the industry certainly shine through in the menu.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Steere said Nectar&#8217;s bar offering pays homage to the age of mixology, with fine wines, decadent cocktails, and light snacks all fitting any occasion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123550\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123550\" style=\"width: 481px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123550 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/SEP-24TH-NECTAR-KITCHEN-74-1-scaled.jpg?_t=1702951230\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"601\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bar manager Finn Sugrue has meticulously developed a selection of delicious cocktails for locals to sip on.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every sip is an experience and a chance to embrace the present and be charmed,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Finn our venue manager and bar expert has handcrafted a beautifully meticulous lineup of cocktails and plenty of Mediterranean inspired wines to fill those moments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Babylon is a huge favourite, as is the Rendesvous Beefeater with gin, lillet blanc , rocket, fennel, cucumber, absinthe, lime and pepperberry olive oil.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;French wines and Italian wines broadcast those Mediterranean vibes and feelings and we&#8217;ve also got the import and local beers to fit that mold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123551\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123551\" style=\"width: 602px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123551 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/SEP-30TH-NECTAR-KITCHEN-39-scaled.jpg?_t=1702951264\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123551\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Babylon cocktail is a massive favourite as is the Rendesvous Beefeater with gin.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nectar will add another string to their bow in the 2024 by hosting private functions and special lunches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll be open for anything and everything, whatever suits the customer, we are down for,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Function will certainly come up fast and we are perfectly suited to deliver that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The plush interior space can certainly be tailored to any type of crowd.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_123553\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123553\" style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-123553 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/SEP-30TH-NECTAR-KITCHEN-29-scaled.jpg?_t=1702951288\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-123553\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The venue also features an elegant selection of French and Italian wines.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Steere said he has very high hopes for the restaurant and aims for it to be the top offering in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s fairly fresh, but it&#8217;s been taken really well,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The reports and reviews coming through have just been fantastic across food, cocktails and the d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Comments like &#8220;it&#8217;s the best place in Geelong&#8221; and &#8220;it&#8217;s amazing, you have to go&#8221; have been very nice to hear.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Customers have certainly expressed their eagerness to come back as soon as they can.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the future I&#8217;ve got plans to push its boundaries by entering awards and to get it well recognised not just in Geelong, but across Victoria and Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hope it becomes someone where people have to book in months in advance to even get in!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nectar is open Wednesday and Thursday 5pm-late, Friday and Saturday from 1pm and 5pm till late and Sunday from 1pm-3pm.<\/p>\n<p>The venue is located at 239 Moorabool Street, Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>To book, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nectargeelong.com.au\/\">www.nectargeelong.com.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of Geelong&#8217;s fine dining venues Nectar Kitchen and Bar is sure to turn heads with its fresh blend of &#8220;charm and allure&#8221;.
