CHILDREN with cystic fibrosis teamed up with professional surfers at Torquay Surf Beach today for a morning of fun therapy.
\nSurfing champions, such as Jesse Mendes, Ezekiel Lau, Caio Ibelli and Tatiana Western-Webb took some time out of their busy schedules to teach about 15 kids during a \u201cSurf Experience Day\u201d.
\nThe men and women are in Torquay for the Rip Curl Pro.
\nThe Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) runs the surf days, and aims to help the patients find a love for surfing so they do it outside of Surf Experience Days, too.
\nThe day acts as a therapy for the kids, as breathing in the salt water vapors from crashing waves thins mucus and promotes productive coughing – this helps clear CF lungs of bacteria-harboring mucus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
