THE Borough of Queenscliffe is conducting a survey, inviting the community to share ideas and opinions on the Borough’s 2024-2025 budget priorities.
\nThe Borough has developed a five-minute survey to gather feedback on investment priorities and ideas from the community.
\nA Borough spokesperson said the consultation aimed to be broad and inclusive.
\n“Residents, ratepayers, holiday-makers and those in-between, all are encouraged to participate.
\n“Our community is wide and varied, and we are keen to hear from alLast year’s consultation revealed a public desire for increased spending on assets, facilities, and public spaces.
\n“People specifically suggested projects to install more footpaths, plant more trees and protect our coastline,” the spokesperson said.
\n“In response, Council included an increased investment in the tree planting program across the Borough, planned and built new pedestrian footpaths, such as the new footpath on Point Lonsdale Road linking the bus stop with Bellarine Community Health, and identified the Cliff and Beach Stability Study as a priority project.”
\nThere was also a call for more investment in environmental and waste management initiatives.
\n“Council allocated funding to clean up Ganes Reserve, to support Bellarine Catchment Network and the Borough Coastcarers program, and the Victoria Park revegetation project,” the spokesperson said.
\n“Propelled by ongoing community interest and activism, captured in the budget survey responses, our Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) Council continued to invest in projects to help reduce our impact on the environment.”
\nA budget presentation will be held on Wednesday, February 7.
\nThe mayor and councillors will explain the council’s financial situation, commitments, and will then engage in a Q&A session.
