PROPONENTS of a housing development in Clifton Springs are changing their plans to accord with the City of Greater Geelong’s planning policy.<\/p>\n
According to the request to amend a planning permit for 61-67 Central Road lodged with the city, applicants Barwarre Road Pty Ltd and their representatives KLM Spatial have altered their proposal to be “part council road and part common property due to the development constraints that we have encountered through the planning and Cultural Heritage policy”.<\/p>\n
“Specifically, these include the requirement from the Registered Aboriginal Party to undertake 100 per cent salvage of the Aboriginal Place, which deems the project unviable from a financial perspective.”<\/p>\n
KLM Spatial then suggested possible public open space to protect the Aboriginal Place within the subdivision, but the city did not accept this as the open space’s size and location did not align with the city’s Open Space Strategy.<\/p>\n
Instead, Barwarre Road Pty Ltd is proposing building 12 lots in stage one with access from Central Road, 14 lots in stage 2 with access from an extension to White Caps Way, with open space between them “that will be maintained as part of the owners’ corporation and will be landscaped to the satisfaction of the Registered Aboriginal Party”.<\/p>\n
