THOUSANDS of people revved their engines down the Bellarine Highway and headed to Queenscliff over the weekend for the Queenscliff Rod Run.<\/p>\n

The three-day festival celebrated classic vintage rides and the coastal charm of the Bellarine.<\/p>\n

More than 1,000 people attended a huge meet and greet function on Friday evening to kickstart the car extravaganza at Queenscliff Reserve.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s entertainment featured an activities day at Adventure Park, a car cruise lunch at the Leopold Sporting Club and the evening main street cruise.<\/p>\n

The popular Show and Shine car showcase wrapped up the festival at Lower Princess Park in Queenscliff on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Panels from Adventure Park, Victoria Police and the Borough of Queenscliffe picked their winners from more than 500 vehicles.<\/p>\n

Event organiser Greg Morrisey from Geelong Street Rodders said the 2024 event would go down as one of the biggest in its history.<\/p>\n

“The sunshine certainly helped us in having an absolutely huge Queenscliff Rod Run.<\/p>\n

“It was very successful. We had over 600 family entries across the weekend and thousands of cars taking part.<\/p>\n

“The Saturday night in particular for the cruise was just massive.<\/p>\n

“The behaviour from spectators was incredible, everyone was smiling, and the town was kept very clean, which is what its all about.<\/p>\n

“It certainly was a huge success, and one of the more successful ones in recent memory.”<\/p>\n

Mr Morrisey said the event was also able to raise a significant amount of money for the Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Lions Club.<\/p>\n

“It was $5 entry for the day and all those funds will be distributed to various charities and philanthropic causes in town of which the Lions Club select.<\/p>\n

“In previous years they have donated it to the Country Women’s Association, to local disability groups and also into projects to build new infrastructure in town.<\/p>\n

“The Geelong Street Rodders group will also be donating some of their proceeds to organisations doing wonderful work in our community.”<\/p>\n
