TELSTRA mobile phone users in Barwon Heads will have no coverage for 12 hours tomorrow (Tuesday, February 20) due to works near the town’s Telstra mobile network tower.<\/p>\n
Last week, Telstra stated the third party works near the tower would cause a “temporary disruption” to the Telstra mobile network between 7am-7pm.<\/p>\n
“This is in compliance with Health and Safety requirements.”<\/p>\n
“The mobile network should be restored at the end of the day.”<\/p>\n
Telstra mobile customers will receive text messages advising them of the coming works.<\/p>\n
Landline services, NBN internet services and mobile coverage from other providers will not be affected.<\/p>\n
Any calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically be diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services.<\/p>\n
In the interim, if residents have access to a wi-fi signal at home or at work, Telstra is encouraging residents to activate wi-fi calling.<\/p>\n
This is a free setting on most popular mobile phones and allows your mobile to use a wi-fi network to make and receive mobile calls.<\/p>\n

Many businesses use the Telstra network for their EFTPOS terminals, but Telstra advises this network is operated by financial institutions, not Telstra itself.<\/p>\n
Many EFTPOS terminals can also be connected using fixed line or Wi-Fi\/NBN internet connections.<\/p>\n
