STUDENT Lauren Board is the recipient of Portarlington and Community Bank Branches\u2019 first scholarship.<\/p>\n
The St Ignatius College student received a two-year scholarship of $5,000 per annum to assist with her tertiary studies.<\/p>\n
Branch manager Nathan Warren said Lauren\u2019s application stood out on several levels.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer academic results were strong in her areas of study and she has shown great passion, leadership and community contribution via the \u2018#doitinadress\u2019 campaign supporting education for girls in Africa,\u201d Mr Warren said.<\/p>\n
\u201cInitiatives like this highlight the contribution that is made by our customers and how they can \u2018see the change\u2019 that is made in our community by banking with their local community bank branch.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Portarlington and Drysdale Community Bank Branches are committed to supporting young people on the Bellarine through various initiatives, most recently through an annual scholarship program.<\/p>\n
This is the first year that a scholarship has been made available by the Portarlington and Drysdale Community Bank Branches and awarded to a tertiary student studying at an Australian university or college campus from the Bellarine.<\/p>\n
The scholarship program makes a significant difference to these hard working and talented students by helping them cover some of the costs of tertiary education.<\/p>\n
