THE Federal Government has announced a significant boost for veteran services in the Surf Coast and Geelong area, awarding RSL Victoria a $5.445 million grant to set up a new Veterans\u2019 and Families\u2019 Hub.<\/p>\n
Located in Geelong, the hub will also feature major satellite sites in Torquay and Queenscliff RSLs, covering the Bellarine and Surf Coast regions.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Surf Coast Shire facilities will host various social and recreational activities for veterans.<\/p>\n
Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker said the establishment of the Surf Coast and Geelong Hub would support veterans\u2019 across the Surf Coast, Bellarine and Geelong.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will offer support to over 6,600 current and former ADF personnel and their families right across my electorate.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom Geelong to Torquay, and throughout the Bellarine, this new Hub will provide widespread outreach to ensure veterans and their families receive the targeted support they deserve.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter much advocacy, this election commitment is about to become a reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to thank all of our veterans, their families, and local RSLs for their involvement throughout the consultation process \u2013 this is an amazing outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
This initiative promises to provide over 6,600 local veterans with easier access to essential support services.<\/p>\n
Member for Corio Richard Marles said the Government was committed to supporting our veterans and their families.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an important next step for the Geelong veteran community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese services and their delivery will make a vital contribution in Geelong and across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
