EVERYTHING you could want to know about potatoes will be on display at Drysdale Primary School later this month.<\/p>\n

Drysdale Primary School’s Potato Fair is returning to Clifton Springs Road on March 22 following the school’s successful inaugural event in 2023.<\/p>\n

School council president Julie Penfold said the fair was a chance for the wider Bellarine community to celebrate Drysdale’s rich history of potato growing, while raising important funding for school infrastructure.<\/p>\n

“Last year we launched this event, and it was a massive success.<\/p>\n

“A lot of ex-primary school students were a part of last year’s event, and it was an absolute blast, so we decided to host it again.<\/p>\n

“There’ll be a lot of the usual festivities and community groups there on the day; the local CFA, the local footy netball club, the dunk tanks, the teacup rides, the sausage sizzle \u2013 just the whole works.<\/p>\n

“It looks like it’s going to be an awesome day once again and we absolutely invite anyone to come down.”<\/p>\n

The fair serves as a major school fundraiser with this year’s funds going towards the school’s outdoor spaces, particularly the playgrounds.<\/p>\n

Ms Penfold said there was a lively atmosphere at last year’s event, which raised over $15,000 towards the school’s outdoor stage, and she expected a similar turnout on March 22.<\/p>\n

“It was a lot to handle last year, which is what made it a great success.<\/p>\n

“It really is a genuine connector for the community. There’s not a lot of other opportunities for the community to get together like this, and also providing that intergenerational connection between kids and the older generations as well.”<\/p>\n

The Drysdale Potato Fair begins from 3.30pm and will run until 7.30pm.<\/p>\n
