{"id":82863,"date":"2024-03-01T04:08:10","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T17:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=82863"},"modified":"2024-02-29T13:19:52","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T02:19:52","slug":"nominees-revealed-for-women-in-community-life-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/nominees-revealed-for-women-in-community-life-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominees revealed for Women in Community Life Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong, in partnership with the Women in Community Life Advisory Committee (WiCLAC), has announced the nominees for this year&#8217;s 2024 Women in Community Life Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The annual awards, across seven categories, will be presented at the 2024 International Women&#8217;s Day event on Wednesday, March 8 at Wurriki Nyal.<\/p>\n<p>They acknowledge the contribution women have made to the Greater Geelong community, and particularly the impact women have made to promote and advocate for the advancement of gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan applauded the nominees and thanked them for their contributions to the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The nominations provide well-deserved recognition to the many women in Greater Geelong who have worked selflessly and made outstanding contributions to the community,&#8221; Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>Cr Melissa Cadwell, WiCLAC chair, said the nominees were all local role models who had made a positive impact on their community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 2024 award nominees are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for a First Nations Woman, sponsored by Parliamentary Secretary for First Peoples and Geelong MP Christine Couzens:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Nikki Stanley<\/li>\n<li>Kiralee Hogema.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Economic Empowerment, sponsored by Women&#8217;s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South-West:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Ching Ying Lee<\/li>\n<li>Bridie Coughlin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Education, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Geelong:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Louise Larkin<\/li>\n<li>Jasmine Kildea<\/li>\n<li>Wendy Erickson<\/li>\n<li>Julie Penfold<\/li>\n<li>Helen Nicholls-Stary<\/li>\n<li>Kathyrn Aston-Mourney<\/li>\n<li>Kathy Taylor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Human Rights, sponsored by Zonta Club of Geelong:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Stephanie Yacoub<\/li>\n<li>Renee Fiolet<\/li>\n<li>Ren\u00e9e La Peyre<\/li>\n<li>Amy Flint.<\/li>\n<li>Imogen O&#8217;Shannessy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Disability Rights, sponsored by Barwon Health:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Fiona Cormack<\/li>\n<li>Christine Gutaskas<\/li>\n<li>Lee Fox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Climate Action, sponsored by Bellarine MP Alison Marchant:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Yvonne Parker<\/li>\n<li>Juliet Bao Ngoc Doling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Women in Community Life Award for Leadership in Women&#8217;s Health, sponsored by GMHBA:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Hayley Roy<\/li>\n<li>Penny Taylor<\/li>\n<li>Nat Oska<\/li>\n<li>Dr Caitlyn Pring<\/li>\n<li>Karen Todd<\/li>\n<li>Holly Lewtas<\/li>\n<li>Kat Stanley<\/li>\n<li>Maree Bennett.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tickets to the awards event on Friday, March 8 are limited.
