Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Department of Transport and Planning issued a statement announcing the reopening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A three-week construction blitz has returned Surf Coast Highway to its permanent alignment under the new rail bridge &#8211; a week ahead of schedule,&#8221; the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;During the closure 1,800 tonnes of asphalt was placed to resurface the highway, and 107 cubic metres of concrete poured for the centre median strip and drainage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Artwork by local Wadawurrung artist Billy-Jay O\u2019Toole was installed across the bridge and features traditional names Doolibeal for Armstrong Creek and Yuroyuroke for Mount Duneed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More than 80 crew members a day were involved during the closure.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_92005\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-92005\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92005 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/03\/figure_col12_lg-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1709269216\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-92005\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Crews relocated and rebuilt over 4,000m2 of road to return the highway to its permanent alignment.
