THE City of Greater Geelong has launched a call for community feedback to shape an Integrated Transport Strategy aimed at guiding transport decisions for the coming years.<\/p>\n
The public consultation period began on April 24 and will run until June 18.<\/p>\n
This initial phase will help develop the strategy background report and involves gathering community perspectives on various modes of transportation, including walking, cycling, public transport, driving, and freight.<\/p>\n
Mayor Trent Sullivan said community engagement was crucial.<\/p>\n
“It is important to gather feedback and ideas from those who live, work, visit and move through Greater Geelong.”<\/p>\n
“Tell us about your experience travelling in Geelong, whether it be about pedestrian and bike safety, car parking, or suggestions to improve the public transport network.”<\/p>\n
City transport portfolio chair Councillor Ron Nelson encouraged public participation.<\/p>\n
“I encourage the community to help develop an integrated, safe, and inclusive transport system,” he said. “Let us know where you have had good experiences or issues travelling around Greater Geelong or any ideas you have to improve the safety, accessibility, reliability and sustainability of our transport network.”<\/p>\n
“Improving connectivity within the network is a key focus, as the growing population needs reliable links to employment, education, shopping and other destinations.”<\/p>\n
“We must deliver a consistent level of service and infrastructure across the Greater Geelong area.”<\/p>\n
