CentreStage has secured the theatrical rights to acclaimed Broadway musical Come From Away and will present it in Geelong next year.<\/p>\n

The production company says it is a monumental achievement for not only CentreStage but also the City of Greater Geelong to be able to present the musical, which has won a Tony Award, three Laurence Olivier Awards and three Drama Desk Awards.<\/p>\n

Original cast members Jenn Colella and Chad Kimball\u00a0from the Broadway production, along with Jonathan Andrew Hume from the UK West End cast, joined CentreStage earlier this month to announce the news.<\/p>\n

Come From Away, with book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, tells the remarkable true story of the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, which opened its doors to thousands of stranded passengers following the September 11 attacks.<\/p>\n

The musical explores themes of kindness, compassion, and the unbreakable human spirit in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n

The production features songs such as “Welcome to the Rock”, “Me and the Sky”, “Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere”, “38 Planes”, and “Something’s Missing”.<\/p>\n

CentreStage is in the\u00a0process of recruiting a talented creative team to helm the production.<\/p>\n

Audition details will be announced soon.<\/p>\n

“Onstage at the Playhouse Theatre, Geelong Arts Centre, audiences will be transported into the heartwarming and uplifting world of ‘Come From Away’,” CentreStage’s David Greenwood said.<\/p>\n

“We are honoured to bring this incredible story to life for the first time in Geelong, and we are immensely grateful to Irene Sankoff and David Hein for entrusting us with their masterpiece.”<\/p>\n

CentreStage will present Come From Away at the Geelong Arts Centre from March 7 to March 22, 2025.<\/p>\n
