THE Queenscliff community are ready to enjoy better lighting at its sporting mecca, following an announcement<\/p>\n
commencing the installation of new lighting at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker joined Borough of Queenscli\ufb00e and Queenscli\ufb00 Football Netball Club representatives to celebrate the beginning of construction on new light towers at the reserve.<\/p>\n
Ms Coker and the federal government committed $160,000 to the Coutas prior to the 2022 federal election.<\/p>\n
She said the club’s upgraded lightning was one of the final steps needed to be completed as part of the club’s redevelopment works over the past decade.<\/p>\n
“It’s so exciting for the Coutas and everyone in Queenscliff to see this project no under way,” Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
“The upgraded LED lighting will make training safer and enable night games to be played which will open up so many more opportunities for the club.”<\/p>\n
“I’m very proud to be able to deliver this commitment alongside the Borough of Queenscli\ufb00e and the club.”<\/p>\n
Construction is expected to be completed by the first week of August later this year.<\/p>\n
Borough of Queenscliffe councillor and former mayor Isabelle Tolhurst said the upgrade will have long-lasting benefits to the club and the wider community.<\/p>\n
“Infrastructure upgrades that enable facilities to be used longer and by more people such as new lights are great for the club’s long-term success,” Cr Tolhurst said.<\/p>\n
