MORE than 130 Bellarine residents came together last weekend for the Portarlington Neighbourhood House’s (PNH) inaugural Winter Supper Dance.<\/p>\n

The event was held at the Portarlington Parks Hall, which was decorated in a supper club theme, with live music provided by popular local band Pl@n B.<\/p>\n

Everybody got on the dance floor, with many attendees asking for the event to continue into the night.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Attendees were treated to a night of dancing and social connection, along with a hot and cold supper and a selection of wine and beer.<\/p>\n

PNH’s event manager Deb Trotman, whose experience includes helping to organise the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, said it was a “terrific” night and “everybody had a good time”.<\/p>\n

The event forms part of PNH’s efforts to expand the range of reasonably priced events available to the local community, particularly in the evening.<\/p>\n

“We’re trying to utilise the hall more for the local community and make more affordable events for them. Cheaper drinks, great entertainment and not paying the big dollars,” Ms Trotman said.<\/p>\n

“It’s a great place and it belongs to the ratepayers.”<\/p>\n

PNH hope to host several more events that utilise the large Portarlington Parks Hall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Funds raised from Supper Dance will be put back into the neighbourhood house, helping its volunteers to host more events, at further subsidised rates, and continue giving back to the community they serve.<\/p>\n

Ms Trotman confirmed the Supper Dance will also return again next year, along with a more regular program of similar evening events.<\/p>\n
