{"id":88228,"date":"2024-06-06T20:55:49","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T10:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/tactical-aga-mt-duneed-host-evening-pasture-walk\/"},"modified":"2024-06-06T20:58:53","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T10:58:53","slug":"tactical-aga-mt-duneed-host-evening-pasture-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/tactical-aga-mt-duneed-host-evening-pasture-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"Tactical AGA Mt Duneed host evening pasture walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL farmers were back at Mt Duneed last week to take a pasture walk at Tactical AGA demonstration site in Dickens Road, where growers were able to see first hand how different pasture species and mixes respond to the local environment and soil types.<\/p>\n<p>As temperatures drop and growing conditions temper, it was important to see how well managed pastures can still provide sustenance for livestock throughout the autumn and winter periods.<\/p>\n<p>The site also included a longer deep rooted perennial trial that was showing good growth in dryer conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by senior agronomists Wayne Firth and Ruby Gow at their Dickens Road warehouse and paddock demonstration site, the locals evening was well attended.<\/p>\n<p>Seed, agronomy, and rural services were all discussed which is now provided at a local level with a dedicated team of agronomists on hand that have provide on the ground professional advice to best manage your crops and pastures.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past three years, agronomists Wayne Firth and Ruby Gow have developed pasture blends specifically for the Surf Coast and surrounds at this site.<\/p>\n<p>The team initiated a trial site in 2022 which has allowed the development and viewing of pastures performance in local soils and conditions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_136794\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136794\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-136794 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/06.06.2024_20.51.39_REC.png?_t=1717671167\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"575\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-136794\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Farmers got to see how Tactical AGA\u2019s trial plots have performed throughout Autumn at the Dickens Road demonstration site evening walk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2023 the trial site was significantly expanded to enable a Field Day based on a systems approach to pastures, with farmers able to inspect over 50 pastures on the day that including targeted pasture blends developed by Senior Agronomist Wayne Firth for Surf Coast growing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne said that the site offers locals an opportunity to inspect a wide range of annual and perennial pastures in one location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The trial site is of a significant scale and that offers farmers a first hand look of how our pasture products perform in this environment,&#8221;
