QUEENSCLIFF children’s charity, Cottage by the Sea is encouraging people to donate to their Winter Warmers Campaign.<\/p>\n

The end of financial year fundraiser began on June 17 and aims to harness the generosity of the community so more children can experience the charities benefits.<\/p>\n

Established in 1890, Cottage by the Sea run several diverse programs with the aim of enhancing the lives of children through their short stay camps focussing on adventures in nature.<\/p>\n

“The key message behind Winter Warmers is that each and every child deserves warmth,” Cottage by the Sea chief executive Adam Wake said<\/p>\n

“According to the Victorian Council of Social Services, more than 216,000 Victorian children live in a significant economic disadvantage.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“With your support, more of these children will experience the inspiration, fun, opportunity and warmth of experiences at Cottage.”<\/p>\n

Those wanting to raise money can set up a fundraising event with their friends and family, or on their own, and share their progress on Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n

With a goal of $50,000 Cottage by the Sea have suggested ways people can come together to raise money including hosting a movie marathon, spa day, bake off, book club and more.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, donations are able to be made directly to the Winter Warmers campaign.<\/p>\n

“As a not-for-profit independent children’s charity that doesn’t receive government funding for its programs, we are reliant on the community’s support of our events and fundraisers like Winter Warmers,” Mr Wake said.<\/p>\n

Cottage by the Sea launched the fundraiser at their Winter Warmers breakfast in May, where stories were shared on how past participants had successfully raised funds for the charity.<\/p>\n

The Winter Warmers campaign runs until June 30.<\/p>\n
