{"id":89800,"date":"2024-07-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-08T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=89800"},"modified":"2024-07-04T10:49:44","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T00:49:44","slug":"bellarine-north-rotary-celebrate-a-year-of-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bellarine-north-rotary-celebrate-a-year-of-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Bellarine North Rotary celebrate a year of success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BELLARINE NORTH Rotary Club celebrated the successes of its 2023-24 season at its executive changeover meeting last week.<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 members of the club came together at the Portarlington Golf Club to thank outgoing committee members and acknowledge the achievements of serving members.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the club was able to distribute more than $40,000 to causes both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/20240624_200258_42969.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"270\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Avenues of Service winner Sue Van Every, Gillian Morgan and Leila Stecher.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Abroad, funds went towards developing a chicken farm in Nepal, dismantling playgrounds to send to third world countries and improving the learning outcomes of students in Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to home, the club assisted local organisations such as Kinship Carers, Feed Me Bellarine, and Drysdale and Portarlington Food Banks.<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing president Leila Stecher and her board were thanked for leading the charge.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89809\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89809\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-89809\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/Feature-Image_56952_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/Feature-Image_56952_tn.jpg 756w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/Feature-Image_56952_tn-300x158.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-89809\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bellarine North Rotary Club&#8217;s Art Expo was lauded as a huge success and made up a portion.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Clifton Springs resident has been a Rotarian for 17 years and was lauded by committee for her positive impact on the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We thank Leila for her tireless work of leading this fun filled, busy club,&#8221; committee member Caroline Rickard said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We now induct new president Ken Withers to lead us into the future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The future is looking bright for the year ahead and we would love some more people to join us to be able to share the workload around.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Withers served on the general committee in 2023 and is excited to be making the step into the presidency role.<\/p>\n<p>He will be joined by Terry Baker (vice-president), Bruce Van Every (secretary), Sue Riminton (president elect), Caroline Rickard (director), Glynis Jones (director) and Alex Jeffrey (director) on the 2024-25 board.<\/p>\n<p>The club encourages any interested residents to attend one of its weekly Monday meetings held at Portarlington Golf Club at 6pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BELLARINE NORTH Rotary Club celebrated the successes of its 2023-24 season at its executive changeover meeting last week.
