THE Bellarine Agricultural Society has welcomed two new life members at their recent annual general meeting.<\/p>\n

Husband and wife Don and Janet McDonald were recognised for their continued dedication to the society.<\/p>\n

Bellarine Agricultural Show Secretary Jenny Banks said the committee was very appreciative to have the pair’s involvement.<\/p>\n

“Don and Janet’s commitment to the society has been unwavering over many years and it’s a recognition of not only their commitment in taking on their roles, but their ongoing commitment.”<\/p>\n

Don first started with the society as an entrant in the cattle competition before becoming president and stepping into the role of cattle steward.<\/p>\n

A number of committee members have said without Don’s direct involvement, knowledge and experience, the cattle section of the show would have been lost years ago.<\/p>\n

Janet’s time with the Bellarine Show started when she was supporting Don, before she also took on the role of president, steering the committee through the pandemic.<\/p>\n

“They’ve got such knowledge that we can draw on when it comes to planning. They’ve got lots of great ideas and suggestions,” Ms Banks.<\/p>\n

“But also helping, making and keeping the show relative in these times as opposed to when they first started.”<\/p>\n

The Bellarine Show will return on March 9, 2025.<\/p>\n
