Local therapeutic surf charity Ocean Mind is searching for some new facilitators to ride waves and make a positive impact on young people’s lives.<\/p>\n

Ocean Mind is currently taking expressions of interests for new team members for its 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n

The not-for-profit is hopeful of attracting passionate individuals who are willing to help build young people’s confidence, resilience and skills both in and out of the water.<\/p>\n

A Surf Coach Qualification is essential, as is a current Working with Children’s Check.<\/p>\n

Experience in youth mental health, autism awareness, mental health first aid and child safety is also desirable.<\/p>\n

Service for a fee manager Ben Wilkinson said Ocean Mind was all about riding the wave to positive change.<\/p>\n

Ocean Mind assist young people experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and disabilities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“Facilitating with Ocean Mind just gives you so much more than the rewarding experience of teaching people to surf.<\/p>\n

“It’s also about working with a young person and building that rapport and relationship over time to help develop them toward the goals they want to achieve.<\/p>\n

“It’s all things self-confidence, self ethicacy and giving young people exposure to different people. It’s all really rewarding stuff.<\/p>\n

“Being in the ocean is just so powerful. We look forward to more people being apart of that.”<\/p>\n

Ocean Mind will host training sessions in September for those interested in jumping on board.<\/p>\n

Sessions will be held in Ocean Grove, Anglesea and Torquay.<\/p>\n
