MEMBERS from the Rotary Club of Ocean Grove have been made Paul Harris Fellows for their contributions to the club<\/p>\n
Andrea Tierney was one of the Paul Harris Fellow recipients, recognised for her community service work within the club for the past 12\u00a0months.<\/p>\n
“It’s a little bit humbling to be recognised and I certainly think there’s plenty of other people who probably do a lot more than I do,” she said.<\/p>\n
One of the main projects Ms Tierney supports is “Say No to Domestic Violence”, one that is a big focus for Rotary this year.<\/p>\n
Ms Tierney was looking for somewhere she could volunteer when she went to Kathmandu and saw the worldwide impact Rotary has. She’s now been a member for six years and enjoys being more involved in the community.<\/p>\n
She also spends her time volunteering with the Salvation Army, and encourages people to get behind the charity.<\/p>\n
“At the moment with homelessness and the way the economy is going, there are people out there struggling,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We go out on the outreach van on a Friday night around the Bellarine and to Geelong and it is just an incredible service they’re doing.<\/p>\n
The other Paul Harris Fellow recipients were Meredith O’Neill, Noel Emselle, Peter Cowburn, Lynne Carlson and Rod Bush.<\/p>\n
