BARWON Coast is seeking community feedback on the future of the At the Heads restaurant and kiosk on the Barwon Heads jetty.<\/p>\n
The facility needs an upgrade to continue to meet industry standard and improve the internal functioning of the restaurant.<\/p>\n
Proposed works on the 25-year-old facilities are within the existing lease area with Short Game Pty Ltd, managed by Barwon Coast.<\/p>\n
These include:<\/p>\n
Realignment of the building footprint and roofline to consolidate the ‘back of house area’ (including improvements to the kitchen, cool room, freezer, dry store).<\/p>\n
Relocation of the historic ‘Boot Room’, that is now used as part of the restaurant dry storage area.<\/p>\n
Retention of the existing kiosk and the installation of new public seating area adjoining the kiosk.<\/p>\n
External colour and finishes that complement the existing restaurant building, and New public sheltered seating to allow for people to sit and visit the kiosk.<\/p>\n
Barwon Coast chief executive officer Gareth Smith said community input would be vital in shaping the future of the well-known local establishment.<\/p>\n
“It’s an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts on the proposed external changes and new public areas.<\/p>\n
“We’re particularly keen to understand how these upgrades might enhance visitors’ experience of our coastline.<\/p>\n
“The feedback we receive will guide our discussions with planning stakeholders to help us make informed decisions that balance the needs of the business with those of our local residents and visitors.<\/p>\n
“It’s a chance for the community to play an active role in how we manage and develop our coastal assets for current and future generations.”<\/p>\n
Community members can submit their feedback by way of online survey until August 25 or via attending a drop-in session at At the Heads on Sunday, August 18 between 10-11am<\/p>\n
The session will provide an opportunity to view the plans and ask questions.<\/p>\n
Barwon Coast staff and At The Heads planning consultants will be available to discuss the project.<\/p>\n
Consideration of community feedback is expected to be complete by the end of the month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
