{"id":92719,"date":"2024-08-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=92719"},"modified":"2024-08-23T11:29:15","modified_gmt":"2024-08-23T01:29:15","slug":"find-your-new-ward-in-the-city-of-greater-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/find-your-new-ward-in-the-city-of-greater-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"Find your new ward in the City of Greater Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VOTERS on the Bellarine Peninsula in the City of Greater Geelong will be part of a new ward structure at this year&#8217;s local council election, with the city now comprising 11 wards with one councillor each.<\/p>\n<p>The three wards in the municipality&#8217;s east also all have new names, taken from localities or prominent geographic features in the ward.<\/p>\n<p>They are (with the number of electors as of March 2023):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leopold Ward (formerly Bellarine Ward) &#8211; 46sqkm, with 19,180 electors, a deviation of 0.65 per cent less than the average<\/li>\n<li>Connewarre Ward (formerly Bellarine Ward) &#8211; 75sqkm, with 20,132 electors, 4.28 per cent more than the average, and<\/li>\n<li>Murradoc Ward (formerly Bellarine Ward) &#8211; 249sqkm, with 20.623 electors, 6.82 per cent more than the average.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Borough of Queenscliffe remains unsubdivided, with electors in the borough &#8211; including Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff and Swan Island &#8211; voting for five councillors to represent the entire municipality.<\/p>\n<p>Voting in this election is by post only.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Electoral Commission will post ballot packs to all enrolled voters from October 7.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_92775\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-92775\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92775 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/CityofGreaterGee_77629-1-1024x1024.jpg?_t=1724284582\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/CityofGreaterGee_77629-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/CityofGreaterGee_77629-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/CityofGreaterGee_77629-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/CityofGreaterGee_77629-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-92775\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This map shows the new ward structure for the City of Greater Geelong. Image: VICTORIAN ELECTORAL COMMISSION<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your ballot pack will contain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A ballot paper<\/li>\n<li>Candidate statements<\/li>\n<li>A ballot paper envelope (for your vote to go in)<\/li>\n<li>A reply-paid envelope (for your ballot paper envelope to go in), and<\/li>\n<li>A leaflet with instructions in other languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow the instructions in your ballot pack to complete your vote.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you post it or drop it off at the election office before 6pm on October 25.<\/p>\n<p>Local mail collection times differ.
