{"id":93060,"date":"2024-08-31T04:00:46","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T18:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=93060"},"modified":"2024-08-29T11:30:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T01:30:49","slug":"festival-of-glass-draws-big-crowd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/festival-of-glass-draws-big-crowd\/","title":{"rendered":"Festival of Glass draws big crowd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 400 people headed out to the Bellarine last weekend for the 14th instalment of the Festival of Glass Expo.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring 19 exhibitors, the August 25 event was hosted by the Drysdale Community hub with a wide range of glass artworks on display.<\/p>\n<p>Festival of Glass Inc. president Mercedes Drummond said the 2024 event was a great success, with local artist and those from around the state participating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a pleasure to watch patrons not only enjoying the exhibitors\u2019 glass art in the three areas inside the Community Hub but also the glass art installations in the back garden area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93062\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93062\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-93062\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-2-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93062\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Festival of Glass Inc committee member Glada MacNaughton demonstrated how to bend glass with a candle.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Artworks on display used both hot and cold techniques and included a variety of pieces from mosaics and stained glass through to jewellery.<\/p>\n<p>Along with exhibitor displays demonstrations ran throughout the day, which Ms Drummond said resulted in people signing up for their<br \/>\nvarious groups.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the demonstrations, committee member and glass artist Glenda MacNaughton melted a piece of glass using a candle flame.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, visitors were also able to participate in a treasure hunt, poetry, storytelling, puzzles and more.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93064\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93064\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-93064\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/fest-of-glass-3-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93064\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 400 people attended the 14th year of the Festival of Glass with 19 exhibitors displaying their work.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Drummond said it was important to acknowledge the support the committee has received over the past 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Festival of Glass Committee and its members are very appreciative of the commitment by exhibitors and the thought and time that they take when setting up their individual sites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the support of sponsors, community groups, organisations and volunteers, this annual event would not be able to be run at such a low entry fee.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 400 people headed out to the Bellarine last weekend for the 14th instalment of the Festival of Glass Expo.
