{"id":93267,"date":"2024-09-07T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-06T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=93267"},"modified":"2024-09-05T09:42:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T23:42:53","slug":"weather-postpones-ride-for-red-nose-25k-still-raised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/weather-postpones-ride-for-red-nose-25k-still-raised\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather postpones Ride For Red Nose, $25k still raised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CONDITIONS were not favourable on Saturday for this year&#8217;s Ride For Red Nose, with the event postponed due to inclement weather.<\/p>\n<p>Ride For Red Nose director and founder Peter Herrick said it was unfortunate this year&#8217;s ride, which had been in the works since late 2023, was postponed. &#8220;Riders will reconvene to hit the road and undertake the course later this year or alternatively in their own time,&#8221; Mr Herrick said.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the second annual Ride For Kids took place in Lara with favourable conditions allowing the ride to go ahead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_103563\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-103563\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-103563\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/09\/IMG_1939_55175_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-103563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 100 mini riders took part in the Ride For Kids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 mini riders took part in the event around the track at Grand Lakes Estate, all raising funds for the Red Nose foundation.<\/p>\n<p>All participants received a special medal and enjoyed free entertainment supported by Geelong charity Friend in Me, driven by inclusivity advocate and Founder, Louise Larkin.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/09\/056a9329_70098.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This year&#8217;s Ride For Red Nose riders with Alison Marchant and her husband Damien before the ride was called off. Photo: NISH PARANAVITANA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The extreme weather didn&#8217;t stop the generosity of donors and supporters for Ride for Red Nose, with the event raising more than $21,400,&#8221; Mr Herrick said. &#8220;The inaugural All-Abilities Ride for Kids was also hailed a huge success, with the event raising an additional $4000 for Red Nose, bringing the grand total for the weekend events to $25,400.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As riders await a date for the resumption of this year&#8217;s Ride For Red Nose, organisers have already begun planning for the 2025 edition of the ride.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CONDITIONS were not favourable on Saturday for this year&#8217;s Ride For Red Nose, with the event postponed due to inclement weather.
