FRIENDS of the Bluff will host the Barwon Heads Nature Festival for the second year, kicking off the September school holidays.<\/p>\n

The festival will run from September 23 until September 27, featuring a range of activities for adults and children.<\/p>\n

Friends of the Bluff president Jon Duthie said the festival was a great way to celebrate the habitats around Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n

“It’s really an opportunity to run some activities and events that get the local community and the visitor community up close and personal with the local environment around Barwon Heads.”<\/p>\n

Events will run each day from September 23 until September 27.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mr Duthie said one of the highlights of the week was the annual slide night, an event which had been running for 25 years.<\/p>\n

“It’s just taking an element from the land, the sea and the sky, it’s literally a slide night, it’s gorgeous photography and a bit of chat about what those photos are about.”<\/p>\n

Adding to the activities on offer at this year’s festival is the short film night, showcasing films with a connection to Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n

Kids will be well entertained with activities each day at the Lobster Pot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Children will also be entertained each day of the festival with activities taking place at the Lobster Pot.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got microscopes set up so you can actually look at all those tiny little plants and animals that live at the bluff.<\/p>\n

“There’s a whole heap of puzzles and games and arts activities as well for the kids in the afternoon and last year that proved to be incredibly successful for us.”<\/p>\n

Mr Duthie hoped the festival could introduce people to the plants, animals and habitats they interacted with regularly.<\/p>\n

“We have hundreds of people who walk, jog, push pushes, cycle and paddle through these amazing habitats and possibly not notice anything that lives in them.”<\/p>\n
