GEELONG Football Club AFLW coach Dan Lowther is taking a positive approach leading into this weekend’s must-win clash with Carlton.<\/p>\n
The Cats, who squeezed out a draw against North Melbourne last weekend, are in danger of scoring just two out of a possible 12 points from the first three rounds following their loss to Melbourne in Round 1.<\/p>\n
Despite the slow start to the season, Lowther said lessons had been learned from last week’s draw against the Kangaroos.<\/p>\n
“We’re getting closer and closer from game to game, but we just haven’t gotten over the line.<\/p>\n
“After a two-point loss than a draw we feel like a win is coming, so we’re positive with how we’re approaching each game.<\/p>\n
“Positive steps forward for us.”<\/p>\n
Cats forward Aishling Moloney got her season in front of goal started, kicking two majors on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
She said the team had looked competitive in the first fortnight of action, but the Cats would be eager to get its first win of the campaign this Saturday at IKON Park.<\/p>\n
“The first quarter I was probably annoyed at myself when I caught the first mark, sometimes in this game you can see the ball every few seconds or every five minutes.<\/p>\n
“It’s just about grabbing those moments and thankfully they came to me in the end.<\/p>\n
“After coming off the Melbourne loss, we were very disappointed with ourselves and with any game, we’re going out to win it, so it was great we got some points on the board, but at the end of the day we’re a bit deflated.”<\/p>\n
With eight games remaining in the season, Geelong has a chance to work its way up the ladder tomorrow and next week away at Gold Coast.<\/p>\n
The Cats next home game takes place on September 26 when they host Hawthorn at GMHBA Stadium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
