{"id":94295,"date":"2024-10-04T00:05:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T14:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=94295"},"modified":"2024-10-04T00:27:25","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T14:27:25","slug":"meet-the-candidates-leopold-ward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/meet-the-candidates-leopold-ward\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the candidates in Leopold Ward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWO community organisations are hosting a meeting next week for the public to get to know the candidates standing in the Leopold Ward in the local council elections.<\/p>\n<p>The Drysdale Clifton Springs Curlewis Association (DCSCA) and the Combined Bellarine Community Association (CBCA) will hold a &#8220;meet the candidates&#8221; event for the ward, part of the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>Next week&#8217;s event is being promoted as a time for people in Leopold Ward &#8211; which includes the suburbs of Leopold, Curlewis and the western half of Drysdale &#8211; to ask questions as well as listen to the candidates&#8217; policies, and to be informed before casting your compulsory postal vote.<\/p>\n<p>The moderated forum will be open to all community members.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Greater Geelong&#8217;s new electoral structure is shifting to 11 wards with one councillor each.<\/p>\n<p>In Leopold Ward, the three candidates are (in ballot paper order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shona McKeen<\/li>\n<li>David Lynch, and<\/li>\n<li>Trent Sullivan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The DCSCA and CBCA &#8220;meet the candidates&#8221; event will be held at SpringDale Neighbourhood House, 22 High Street Drysdale on Wednesday, October 9 from 7pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TWO community organisations are hosting a meeting next week for the public to get to know the candidates standing in the Leopold Ward in the local council elections.
