{"id":94578,"date":"2024-10-11T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=94578"},"modified":"2024-10-11T01:27:45","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T14:27:45","slug":"upgrades-completed-at-st-leonards-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/upgrades-completed-at-st-leonards-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Upgrades completed at St Leonards hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE St Leonards Memorial Hall has received significant upgrades, enhancing the community space and creating new opportunities for local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney and Bellarine MP Alison Marchant visited the hall on Thursday last week to view the finished works.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Community halls are so often at the heart of our regional towns and cities, and I&#8217;m so pleased to see this well-loved and used space continues to be an important part in the fabric of St Leonard,&#8221; Ms Tierney said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These upgrades will mean the St Leonards community will continue to have a place to gather, celebrate, socialise and learn for years\u00a0to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The nearly 100-year-old hall received a new main floor and associated structural repairs.<\/p>\n<p>These improvements &#8211; which include upgrades to the entrance and rear courtyard &#8211; aim to enhance safety and enable community groups to expand the activities that can take place in the hall.<\/p>\n<p>As the only local venue for community activities, the hall&#8217;s previous condition limited safe usage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/10\/StLeonardsHall_53051.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney (second from left) and Bellarine MP Alison Marchant (second from right) with hall committee members on the new floor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new, level surface will allow for dance classes, carpet bowls, and preschool programs, among other activities.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to community events, the upgrades will open the door for new business opportunities, including Pilates and yoga classes, market stalls, art shows, and potentially weddings and parties.<\/p>\n<p>Works began in late June.<\/p>\n<p>The project was backed by $124,000 in funding through Regional Development Victoria and the Tiny Towns Fund.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE St Leonards Memorial Hall has received significant upgrades, enhancing the community space and creating new opportunities for local businesses.
