{"id":94651,"date":"2024-10-10T09:03:45","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T22:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/aussie-music-legend-comes-to-town\/"},"modified":"2024-10-10T09:08:43","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T22:08:43","slug":"aussie-music-legend-comes-to-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/aussie-music-legend-comes-to-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Aussie music legend comes to town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Australian music legend Daryl Braithwaite has hit the road again with his <\/strong><em><strong>You Won\u2019t Go Home Whistling the Lights<\/strong><\/em><strong> Tour. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ARIA Hall of Fame Inductee has been touring since August and is bringing his show to the Geelong Arts Centre later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Those in the audience will hear some of the musicians&#8217; biggest hits from across his career which spans decades.<\/p>\n<p>Braithwaite got his start in the 1970s as the front man and vocalist for Sherbet, where the band found success across Australia and on an international level.<\/p>\n<p>Songs including <em>Howzat<\/em> and <em>Summer Love<\/em> launched their music career and found them in the charts.<\/p>\n<p>In 1988 he stepped out on his own, launching his solo career with his first album <em>Edge<\/em> which reached number one on the Australian ARIA charts for three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>His follow-up album, <em>Rise<\/em>, included <em>The Horses<\/em>, one of his most well-known songs, with the musician invited on stage at a Harry Styles concert last year to perform it in front of 60,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Braithwaite dropped his new single <em>It\u2019s You<\/em> last Friday (October 4), marking his first release since 2020, when <em>Love Songs<\/em> made its way into the charts and was certified gold in Australia, a song originally intended for pop-star Pink.<\/p>\n<p>He also joined a line-up of national and international artists in 2020 for Fire Fight Australia, raising funds for National Bushfire Relief.<\/p>\n<p>Braithwaite will take the stage at the Story House on October 27.<\/p>\n<p>For tickets and more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/geelongartscentre.org.au\"><strong>geelongartscentre.org.au<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australian music legend Daryl Braithwaite has hit the road again with his You Won\u2019t Go Home Whistling the Lights Tour.
