THE search for an MND cure ventured coastal last week, with more than 230 people helping to raise a record breaking $2 million for MND research during the 2024 Daniher’s Drive.<\/p>\n

The Daniher’s Drive saw fundraising teams take travel through regional Victorian locations including Lorne, Bendigo and Warrnambool to raise awareness of “the beast”.<\/p>\n

Road-trippers enjoyed taking part in a series of fun activations and events to fundraise for the cause.<\/p>\n

The auction and trivia night at the Warrnambool racetrack was among the highlights, as was the hilarious dress ups on night three of the campaign in Lorne at the “Fairytale Gala”.<\/p>\n

Drivers were given a huge boost on the night when FightMND co-founder and patron Neale Daniher stopped by to lead a rendition of his signature tune Mr Brightside by The Killers.<\/p>\n

Bellarine locals Geoff Fary, Darren Hellman, Pete Evans and Greg Hughes of Team Monica Hayes were among those taking part in the drive.<\/p>\n

At the time of publication, the team had raised more than $25,000 for the cause.<\/p>\n

Team member Geoff Fary said the quartet thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.<\/p>\n

“We are exhausted, but incredibly satisfied.<\/p>\n

“Our tally will exceed over $25,000 after a few more donations come through, which is just amazing.<\/p>\n

“Overall, this year’s event raised more than $2 million, which means the Daniher’s Drive has contributed more than $18 million to MND research since its inception.<\/p>\n

“A huge thanks to everyone who donated and followed along on and supported our journey.”<\/p>\n

Neale’s wife Jan Daniher said there was an overriding sad emotion once the drive had finished.<\/p>\n

“It was just an amazing four days, and to have 230 people driving just showed how behind the cause everyone really is.<\/p>\n

“It’s truly sad it’s all over, but to raise a record $2 million was absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n

“All the drivers are now part of the FightMND family. I know they’ll be back next year and beyond until we find a cure.”<\/p>\n

All funds raised through the drive will be invested in vital and urgent MND research and care initiatives to improve the lives of those fighting the disease.<\/p>\n
