SAFETY upgrades at Ocean Grove’s busy Grubb Road are moving ahead, with preliminary works underway ahead of major construction kicking off in 2025.<\/p>\n

Crews are now on site to complete essential service relocation works along Grubb Road between Adco Grove and the north of Smithton Grove.<\/p>\n

The $7.7 million major works will include the installation of traffic lights, pedestrian-operated crossings, traffic islands and new bus stops.<\/p>\n

Federal member for Corangamite Libby Coker joined state member for Bellarine Alison Marchant and members of the Ocean Grove Community Association on the ground this month to celebrate the start of works.<\/p>\n

“Grubb Road is such an important link to the North Bellarine and Geelong for so many locals in Ocean Grove \u2013 they have been calling for this upgrade for years, and it’s now getting underway.<\/p>\n

“This project was announced in 2018 by the former federal government but was seriously underfunded, which is why it’s taken such a long time to get off the ground.<\/p>\n

“In the 2024-25 Budget, the Albanese Government committed the additional $2.7 million required to get the job done. This will deliver the upgrades that Grubb Road desperately needs to ensure safe travels for motorists, workers, and local residents \u2013 it’s an awesome outcome.”<\/p>\n

Ms Coker thanked the Ocean Grove Community Association and the local community for its ongoing advocacy to deliver the project.<\/p>\n

Preliminary works will take approximately eight weeks and be followed by major construction starting in 2025.<\/p>\n
