THE Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Band is gearing up to return to the Bellarine for a performance in Portarlington.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Portarlington Neighbourhood House, the band has been regularly performing in the region since 2016 and is a popular event among the community.<\/p>\n

Portarlington Neighbourhood House’s Gemma Tobschall said they’re very excited to welcome the band back to the region.<\/p>\n

“They love coming to Portarlington and they give us a brilliant concert everytime, the same old faces come every year because they love them so much.”<\/p>\n

Performing since 1923, the band delivers public relations and ceremonial support. There are six RAN bands across the nation, staffed by dedicated professionals.<\/p>\n

The band will travel from HMAS Cerberus, located on the Mornington Peninsula, for the performance, with a broad spectrum of music in their repertoire.<\/p>\n

Depending on the type of music they play, the band is made up of between 27 and 35 musicians, all bringing their own instruments and setting everything up.<\/p>\n

Ms Tobshcall said she hoped the community got a lot of enjoyment out of the performance.<\/p>\n

“They [audience members] always say that they’re looking forward to next year’s concert, so that gives me a lot of joy, to see that they’re happy to have been there and experienced their lovely music, and at the same time I know that the band itself is happy.<\/p>\n

“I welcome them and then I say goodbye to them at the door, and the joy that I get from them is to see the lovely smiles on their face.”<\/p>\n

The Royal Australian Navy Band will perform on November 3 from 2pm until 4pm at Parks Hall.<\/p>\n
