CONSTRUCTION is officially under way on the Leopold Memorial Reserve precinct redevelopment.<\/p>\n
Local contractors have taken on the federal government’s $3.25 million three-stage upgrade.<\/p>\n
As part of the first stage, car park improvements will be installed between the Leopold Football Netball Club and the Leopold Tennis Club, improving safety and accessibility.<\/p>\n
The works will also include a netball half-court, providing a new warm-up space for netballers and an active area for the local Scouts group.<\/p>\n
As part of future upgrades, a female-friendly change facility and toilet with storage area will also be included, replacing an outdated toilet block.<\/p>\n
To mark the milestone representatives from the Leopold Lions Club, Tennis Club and Football Netball club joined Corangamite Labor federal member Libby Coker at the precinct.<\/p>\n
“Leopold Memorial Reserve is the heart of this community, it’s a place that brings everyone together which is why this upgrade is so important,” Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
“I’d like to thank the club representatives and local groups who have advocated tirelessly for these upgrades \u2013 this is a great outcome for the Leopold community.”<\/p>\n
Funding was committed to the project by the Albanese Government before the 2022 federal election, partnering with the City of Greater Geelong to deliver the works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
