{"id":95998,"date":"2024-11-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=95998"},"modified":"2024-11-07T15:52:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T04:52:48","slug":"bellarine-event-raises-thousands-for-breast-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bellarine-event-raises-thousands-for-breast-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Bellarine event raises thousands for breast cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Bellarine Community banded together with a sold-out fundraiser held in support of local Peta Chisholm.<\/p>\n<p>Scotchmans Hill hosted the Pink for Peta event on Wednesday, October 30 as a way of supporting their team member and raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Chisholm is presently undergoing treatment for breast cancer after being diagnosed earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/PinkforPeta_88926.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The event was popular with the community, selling out well in advance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event was popular with the community, selling out well in advance and had a waiting list of people hoping to pick up a last-minute ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Schotchmans Hill venue and events manager Ruth Vickers-Willis said it was a fantastic day with beautiful weather.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People enjoyed a glass of bubbles on arrival and then followed by lunch and gelato from our gelato kart.<\/p>\n<p>Scotchmans Hill set out with the original goal of raising $5,000 for the foundation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/PinkforPeta3_88834.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Funds raised from the event will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final count is still under way but it is believed the event has raised more than $9,000.<\/p>\n<p>All money from Pink for Peta will go towards supporting the McGrath Breast Care Nurses who care for individuals and guidance from diagnosis through to treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured a live performance from Wendy Stapleton and her choir, a raffle and life auction full of donated items.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/image000000_25637.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"871\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The event was held in support of Scotchmans Hill staff member Peta Chisholm, who is presently undergoing cancer treatment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among the donated items were dinner vouchers, tasting experiences, accommodation and more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People were very generous in their donations and the people who actually bid on things at auction were very generous in their bidding,&#8221; Ms Vickers-Willis said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had the McGrath Foundation nurse speak, which was wonderful because I think that really encouraged people to dig deep.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/image000002_32406.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"372\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s believed the event raised more than $9,000 for the foundation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights from the day was Ms Chisholm being able to make a short speech and for her to see the amount of support\u00a0surrounding her.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward, the winery plans on making the event a yearly occurrence, with many who were in attendance this year wanting to make sure they were on the list for 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Bellarine Community banded together with a sold-out fundraiser held in support of local Peta Chisholm.
