THE latest addition to Queenscliff’s ferry terminal has been unveiled – a new and immersive room showcasing the wildlife under the sea of Port Phillip Bay.<\/p>\n
The “Under the Bay” Cave Experience is a state of the art showcase room projecting an array of fascinating creatures that can be found beneath Port Phillip Bay, created by the team at Arterial Design Melbourne featuring sound, light displays and augmented reality content.<\/p>\n
“The Under the Bay experience along with recent art installation Journey (triptych) by local artist David Beaumont are great additions to the Queenscliff Ferry terminal,” Searoad Ferries chief executive officer Matt McDonald said.<\/p>\n
The room features animals ranging in size from plankton to weedy sea-dragons to the humpback whale, which seldom passes the opening of Port Phillip Bay.<\/p>\n
Located on the first floor of the terminal building featuring panoramic ocean views, the space hosts many private events from family gatherings, business conferences and weddings to the annual Winter Solstice event, Nightide, which saw more than 7,000 people attend the site in the middle\u00a0of winter.<\/p>\n
The new immersive room will provide another fun activity for incoming and outgoing passengers to further familiarise themselves with the water the ferries cross every day.<\/p>\n
The building serves as a passenger lounge for ferry passengers and these as well as other public spaces and services.<\/p>\n
On the ground floor overlooking the beach is celebrated restaurant TARRA Queenscliff, which has received rave reviews, recently ranking number 10 out of Geelong’s top 100 restaurants, and featured in Cond\u00e9 Nast Traveller, Age Good Food and the Herald Sun.<\/p>\n
Searoad Ferries continues to improve its passenger experience with more than 500,000 people annually boarding safely by using the state-of-the-art, world-first airbridge gangway on the first floor of the building next to the ferry lounge.<\/p>\n
Searoad Ferries has operated the Queenscliff to Sorrento ferry for more than 37 years, offering an easy connection for travelling between the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsula.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
