{"id":96571,"date":"2024-11-21T11:10:45","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T00:10:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=96571"},"modified":"2024-11-22T01:39:08","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T14:39:08","slug":"st-aloysius-primary-school-achieves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/st-aloysius-primary-school-achieves\/","title":{"rendered":"St Aloysius Primary School achieves big things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At St Aloysius Primary School in Queenscliff, the small class sizes and sense of a close knit community are reflected in the curriculum, school activities and social justice initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Social Justice is embedded into the learning at the school in a number of ways.<\/p>\n<p>On October 30, the school was privileged to host the federal Minister for Communications Michelle Rowlands who joined Sarah Davies AM, chief executive officer of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation to launch the new eSmart Digital Licence\u00a0for students.<\/p>\n<p>The Digital Licence is similar to a pen licence, but for the cyber world. St Aloysius students were the first in the country to start working towards gaining their special Digital Licence through completing the fun and interactive modules, learning about what will keep them safe online along the way.<\/p>\n<p>At the School Assembly this week they accepted a giant cheque from the Queenscliff Music Festival (QMF) and Queenscliff Climate Action Now Committee (QCAN) for the instalment of Solar Panels.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/LeaderswithLibbyCoke_26168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Corangamite federal member Libby Coker (centre) joined students on Remembrance Day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The QMF and QCAN have been instrumental in supporting the fabulous community and education initiative to enable schools to install solar panels and learn about how they can contribute to the local community battery via grants such as this.<\/p>\n<p>Students, staff and parents have all learned a great deal about solar energy and the importance of renewable energy in a precious area.<\/p>\n<p>Students have also worked collaboratively on a new school mural on the back wall of one of the buildings reflecting the local flora, fauna and birdlife of the region.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96572\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96572\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-96572 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/MuralProgress1_26230.jpg?_t=1732146964\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/MuralProgress1_26230.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/MuralProgress1_26230-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/MuralProgress1_26230-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/11\/MuralProgress1_26230-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A back wall of the school in currently being transformed with a mural, representing the local flora, fauna and birdlife.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Artist in residence, Terri Pollock, joined the students to create the mural, reflecting the school&#8217;s spectacular geographic location.<\/p>\n<p>Student Leaders were honoured to represent St Aloysius at the Queenscliff RSL on Remembrance Day and read a poem as part of the official ceremony, these links to the community are what brings their learning to life, in and out of the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>For those interested in learning more about this small school achieving big things, book in for a personal tour with Principal Miriam Leahy today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>\/\/SPONSORED CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At St Aloysius Primary School in Queenscliff, the small class sizes and sense of a close knit community are reflected in the curriculum, school activities and social justice initiatives.
